Good evening, WeekendInvestor

Today’s Daily Byte

Hello and welcome to the Weekend Investing Daily Bite for April 1st, 2025 – a day that certainly lived up to its "topsy-turvy" reputation. The market started with a gap down, immediately closing the gap on the higher side, trapping the bears from both the morning and the previous session. But as the day wore on, the market collapsed once again, ending near the low point. It was a dramatic and unpredictable session, certainly not the start anyone expected for the month of April.

There’s also the ongoing market fear surrounding potential reciprocal tariffs from the US. This narrative, which has been weighing heavily on investor sentiment, should likely ease once April 2nd passes, offering some certainty to the markets. In addition, earnings results for the March-ending season will be coming in over the next couple of weeks, likely acting as a major trigger. Add to that the upcoming interest rate meetings in April, and these are some of the key factors that will continue to drive market sentiment.

The video discusses how index investing inherently follows a momentum strategy, highlighting how stocks are constantly rebalanced based on performance, and how adopting momentum investing can help identify winners while avoiding underperformers.

Reality looks quite different. You might get a blockbuster return in one year, followed by a painful drawdown, then perhaps a flat phase, and so on. The journey is always jagged and unpredictable, even if the destination remains the same. . . . .
